Running a storefront in Manhattan is harder than it should be! This session introduces The Main Street Deal, a concrete agenda designed to ensure small business owners have a real seat at the table when decisions are made.

Led by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce's Storefront Business Coalition, this "Deal" is a public commitment for elected leaders to treat neighborhood storefronts as core economic infrastructure, not a niche constituency.

What You Will Learn

  • Overview of the Main Street Deal: Understand why this policy agenda is vital for protecting storefronts from rising costs, safety concerns, and punitive enforcement.
  • How to Pledge Your Support: Learn how to officially sign onto the Deal and request a "Proud Supporter" decal to display in your window.
  • Becoming a District Representative: Discover how you can lend your voice as a District Rep—a role involving just two meetings a year to ensure your neighborhood is heard.

Neighborhood Storefronts: Ground-level retail small businesses who care about keeping their doors open.
